I am a victim of domestic violence. This week I am going to court to press charges against my abuser and getting an order of protection. I am 20 years old. I am in college and have my whole future ahead of me, but abusers do not care if you have the world going your way, they will bring you down to their level. My heart breaks for you because I understand how helpless a parent feels when their kids are in abusive situations. My parents did not know I was being abused until the relationship was initially over, which was two years later. I am fortunate to have both of my parents in my life and an incredible support system, but seeing Leah's page reminds me that this could have very well have been me. There were moments in my abusive situation that I truly thought My parent's hearts break knowing that justice does not ease the pain in both my family's hearts and my own.
